A winning matchup is when your champion has natural advantages over the opponent, as explored by counters, that will make it easier for you to win. As such, you should utilise the tools you have and adopt an aggressive playstyle. In an even matchup, no player has any kind of automatic advantage over another, and so the result of the game will depend entirely on the skill of a player. Alternatively, a losing matchup means that the opposing champion has a greater advantage over you and winning will be a real struggle. However, being a good player also means knowing how to lose in a way that is still advantageous to yourself, doing so slowly and safely and still winning later.
Stats are the heart and soul of League of Legends, and what allows it all to function as a game. Every champion has different stats, and some will be better than others. This is what gives the game its competitive nature and allows for counters to exist. Choosing a champion with a really high stat score in one area will likely mean sacrificing stats somewhere else, giving them both strengths and weaknesses.
There are too many stats in League of Legends to name them all, but some of the most important ones include: attack damage, magic resist, armour, health, attack speed, tenacity, and range. Knowing what stats your champion has is a great way to play to their strengths and be cautious regarding their weaknesses.
League of Legends is a big game with a massive following, but this is no reason to be intimidated by it. Learning the basics surrounding counters, matchups and stats is a great way to give yourself the best head start to get into the game. That being said, getting good at League of Legends is best done by actually playing and practising, getting a feel for the game and familiarising yourself with the champions and the gameplay.
