Tips Against Alistar as a Support Tips Provided by MOBAFire Guide Authors

Sakuritou says “As long as you avoid the dive at Lvl 6, he can't really do much, as you can just hide in ur E or W him as soon as he W's you and then you run out of his E.”

stroderna says “Nothing here to say other than if you're caught out of position, he will knock you up and his ADC will finish you off. Also, his recent AP build deals a surprising amount of damage, so don't get cocky if you see it and remember to respect it.”
SnowBl00d says “even lane usually, just silence at his target when he goes in. should prevent him from doing anything else, free kill.”

daltonfresh says “His headbutt (W) is a point and click dash that pushes you away, so he can deny your engage pretty easily. He out-tanks you, so if he plays aggressively your adc could be in big trouble. Play safe until you get an advantage, peel with Q, don't get headbutted.”
Mr_kodeo says “Jax goes well into engage supports. Someone like Alistair should in theory be a difficult matchup, thanks to his knockback, but Alistair's whole kit is engage, which Jax excels at. Pre level 6, If the bull gets close, you can either stun him and help your ADC blitz him down, or just go past him and aim straight for the enemy ADC, since with Jax Q and E, they'll either lose a considerable amount of health or have to burn Flash. Alistair will either have to turn back and help, or keep going for your ADC. However, before engaging, I would suggest you let them push up to your turret, because if Alistair does decide to go after your ADC, then its nice to have the protection from turret that they can fall back on.”

io1375 says “He is one of those matchups Rakan tends to struggle in with his engage and CC, any remotely good alistar will wait to see if you're looking for an engage, and immediately punish you before you can make it happen. However you too are a good engage support, so watch for when he is looking to engage your adc and do essentially the same thing back as he is walking up, and be prepared to E back to your ally as soon as his knockup is over. Alistar does however become an extreme threat if he is alongside someone who also has cc like a lot of the common APC's that are normally played midlane”
Rolocyn says “Champ's that have to actually get in to melee range to get cc is a really free lane because there just instantly cc when engaging as long as ur adc stays inside ur boxes obviously ”

Kogami123 says “Early Game (Laning Phase) ✅ Gragas has a slight advantage thanks to his poke with Q and his sustain. ✅ Alistar becomes dangerous level 2-3 with his W-Q combo, but remains vulnerable before. ✅ If Alistar misses his engage, punish him with E-Q to force a winning trade. ⚠ Don't position yourself too close, or he may W-Q you under his tower. Mid-Game (Roaming and Skirmishes) ✅ Gragas roams better than Alistar thanks to his E + R, so take the opportunity to gank mid. ✅ Use your R to counter Alistar's engagement, pushing him back or disorganizing the enemy team. ⚠ Don't hit Alistar first in teamfights, as his R reduces damage enormously. Late-Game (Teamfights & Objectives) ✅ Gragas is more versatile: he can engage, disengage or isolate a carry with his R. ✅ Alistar is tankier and more durable, but Gragas can reverse a fight by isolating an opponent's carry. ✅ Aim for the enemy ADC or mid with your E-R combo, not Alistar. ⚠ If Alistar finds a good engage on your ADC, the game can turn.”

ShriekingMammoth says “Alistar is a champ that does a very similar thing to Shen, though Shen has a shorter cooldown with Q and more damage. The only issue you should have is leaving adc under turret as Alistar has really good dive potential. Outscale him as well.”
